Print analysis: Gelatin-silver press print struck in March 1964 from an earlier negative (note dated lab slug). Image content and handwriting place the scene 1946-50; thus this is a Type 2 contemporary print, not a later copy.
Youth-oriented musical films featuring swing and jive dancing were enormously popular at the major Hollywood studios during the late 1930s and early 1940s. This style of promotional still – a wide action dance shot distributed to fan magazines on both coasts – was a standard tool for building audience anticipation and placing buzz in publications like Photoplay and Modern Screen.
A side-mounted spare tire is partially visible on the driver’s side, a common accessory of the period.
