Very smooth and silky. See last pictures, one displays the light that goes through and the last one a small hole about 4 inches from one end of the fabric near the selvage. Actual measurements is 9 yards and 22 inches. Allowed extra 22 inches to make up for the hole and some unevenness left when it was cut.
