Legendary NASA CHALLENGER Astronaut & first Teacher in Space CHRISTA McAULIFFE scarce and desirable authentic autograph LAUNCH DATED January 28, 1986 postal cover with commemorative disaster coin insert. “Space Teacher” McAuliffe signs the “Public Education” stamped cover at lower right with full black ink pen signature as “S. Christa McAuliffe”. Additional cover cancellation from McAuliffe’s hometown of Concord, NH of July 19, 1985; The day then-VP George Bush announced she had been selected to fly aboard Challenger. NOTE: The postal cover was signed contemporaneously with the launch, however the disaster coin and “25th Mission Disaster” designation were clearly added at a later date. However, a structural failure during its ascent phase 73 seconds after launch on January 28 from Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39 killed all seven crew members.
