These letters are generally known to have been used on church bulletin boards outside and inside; there is a small lip on them to hang/insert. These are all believed to date from the 1950’s-1960’s and possibly earlier; any letter you receive will have the Unitype maker logo on the back. There is a photo of a back with patent date of December 25, 1923!! That’s amazing they have been around since the 1920’s! The back logos are different colors I’m guessing related to size, color, or manufacturing date; if I solve that riddle I’ll update description. These are all believed to be steel (versus aluminum) lithographed letters with oven baked enamel on both sides. Discounts given for multiple letters; one shipping cost. CONDITION: There are no bent letters in my inventory; there are usual small scratches, overall the finish is totally complete on vast majority of the letters. The Black Letter or Black Background is consistent/uniform and in generally in great condition. The White Letter or White Background vary wildly! Please look at group pictures of each color combination, I purposely put a variety of coloring regarding the white letters or white background; there is a lot of range from white, to cream, to yellowish. There may be areas/spots of rust, or letters with overall light rusting. All severely rusted letters have been removed from the listed inventory and will likely show up in a listing in the future as a single lot. Cameras, screens and lighting vary affecting perception of color, namely the variations of white; all photos on this listing were taken in natural light. I will do my best to pull letters of similar coloring but there will be variance; if you want to see your specific order ask me and I’ll pull and send you a photo of your SPECIFIC letters before you click “buy” on your cart. TWO COLOR COMBINATIONS: (1) White Letter on Black background (There is additional inventory of most all of the letters in all of the sizes of this color combination, please reach out if a greater quantity is needed then indicated). (2) Black Letter on White background THREE SIZES (all sizes available in White Letter on Black; currently only two largest sizes available on Black Letter on White): (1) Three Inch; measure approximately 3.25 inches. (2) Two 1/2 Inch; measure just shy of 2.5 inches and in the white on black there is a second size a couple 1/8 of an inch smaller but actual letter image matches the slightly larger one, the slightly smaller in height will be used at end of inventory of larger but please expect possible mixes on larger orders (see photos). The slightly smaller ones of white letter on black backgrounded are all marked with the 1923 patent date; this of course does not mean they were manufactured in 1923 but who knows, I just love knowing the patent date! In doing inventory I noted these patent date marked ones tend to be overall much more uniform in coloring of the white letter, and that can be seen in the “ABC” pic of the slightly overall two sizes size side by side.
