I came upon a large lot of vintage fabric that included at an estate sale on the porch, after it had gotten wet from a sudden rain storm. I dried everything as soon as I got it home. I do not want to wash it, because that will remove all of the starch and destroy tags. Note that it will smell musty, not from the porch scenario but from being stored in a closed up attic or closet for decades.
