A camera provided live television coverage as Neil Armstrong climbed down the ladder and became the first human to set foot on another celestial body. The Apollo 11 crew successfully completed their mission and returned safely to Earth on July 24, 1969.Today, 50 years after the historic moon landing, two outward signs of their great achievement remain on the lunar surface: the lasting impression of Armstrong’s footprint and an American flag.
This is an authentic vintage NASA medium-format photograph. The image depicts the Apollo 11 Lunar Module “Eagle” in orbit around the moon, captured shortly after undocking from the Command Module Columbia. The spacecraft is shown in its landing configuration with its four spindly legs and landing-gear footpads deployed. The photograph was taken by Command Module Pilot Michael Collins as he performed a visual inspection to ensure the landing gear was down and locked. I put This patch under the category of used it is not but used it is also not new. He had a habit of collecting things that were old But unused. He also felt if one was good then 20 was better. The cellophane they are wrapped in is fully sealed and airtight, and is original from 1969.
